VICTORIA – Trinity Western fell to the UFV Cascades in Sunday night's Keg Spring Cup at the Centennial Stadium. A wild 3-3 match between the Spartans and Cascades fell to penalties, which saw UFV move on to take it.
The Spartans held a lead in the match twice, but UFV continued to press, bringing the game back to a draw when given the chance.
AS IT HAPPENED
First-year midfielder
Brandon Torresan (North Vancouver, B.C.) was the first to strike in Sunday's match, banging in a free-kick goal to lift the Spartans early on. Soon after, the Cascades battled back with two of their own goals before TWU would add another marker to tie the match.
Eric Aujla (Langley, B.C.) would follow up after TWU faced their first deficit of the match, taking a 3-2 lead over UFV.
After Aujla's vital goal in securing victory, the Cascades would add another. The game sauntered into penalty kicks, giving way for UFV to take the match.
QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"Overall, it is disappointing to not get the win when we were leading twice."
