AS IT HAPPENED
Midway through the opening quarter, the Spartans held a 16-12 lead, but a 25-8 run put the Cougars up 13, 37-24 after the first 10 minutes.

The two teams exchanged baskets for much of the second quarter with Cougars leading by 12 points, 49-37 at the half.

The Spartans came out strong to start the second half. TWU used a solid team effort to cut the Cougars' lead to one possession with a 29-15 run to trail 66-64 with three minutes remaining. But after a timeout the Cougars settled down to finish the quarter up 10-points, 76-66.

The fourth quarter saw both teams struggling to find the basket as TWU shot 18.8 percent from the field (3-16) and Regina shot 19 percent (4-21). Regina built their lead up to 18 points, 87-69, before settling for the 13-point win.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Trevor Pridie
"You shoot five percent from the three and 53 from the line and give up 20 offensive rebounds, it's pretty hard to beat a good team. Those three numbers kind of sum up the game for us."

"We hung in there somehow, but we keep giving up these massive quarters. We guard well for three and we give up one 30-point plus quarter and that hurts us. But we made a good run and got close. But they are a good team and we just have to be better. We need to make some shots."
