EDMONTON – Trinity Western's Nikita Bradshaw (Pickering, Ont.) broke her own Spartans record in the pentathlon, scoring 3,541 points to finish fifth overall at the Golden Bears Open Friday at the Universiade Pavilion. 
 
Bradshaw's top two pentathlon results on the day were third place results in high jump (1.62m) and long jump (5.51m), as she bettered her previous TWU record of 3,450 points, which she scored at the 2023 Canada West Championship. 
 
Fellow multi-eventer and last year's Canada West gold medallist Brandon Gremaud (Kamloops, B.C.) had a strong first day in the heptathlon, as he sits in first through four events. His day was highlighted by clearing 1.88m in high jump.
 
The Spartans men's long jumpers also had an impressive day, as Oke Okumo (Langley, B.C.) finished fourth with a jump of 6.83m, while first-year Caleb Emon (Prince George, B.C.) jumped 6.72m and Romain Tourveille de Labrouhe (Richmond, B.C.) jumped 6.70m.
