QUOTABLE
Mike Shearon, TWU Head Coach
"Tonight was a difficult night for us. You know, I don't want to take anything away from what UNBC did tonight. They're a very good team that caused us a lot of problems. But at the same time, I thought there were many moments when we did great and did well. And, unfortunately, we came out on the losing side of this one. I didn't think it was a 3-2 game. And when you score two goals, we need to be able to hang on to that and actually even try to push for another one. Until we win the moments that we need to win, defensively and also in the attack, it's going to be difficult for us. So we need to regroup and come out ready to play tomorrow against the side that will look to get at least one point or another victory. And we're gonna need to make sure that we're together in this and do what it takes to win tomorrow."

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans' Francis Powell opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Powell took a pass from fourth-year midfielder Kieren Eve (Coquitlam, B.C.), got open on the left side of the box, and slotted the ball into the back of the Timberwolves to put TWU up 1-0. The Timberwolves' Josh Jordan got the equalizer in the 34th minute. Jordan took a pass from Isaac Tate and, from the centre of the box, chipped the ball into the top left corner of the Spartans' net to tie the match at 1-1.

TWU's Janzen got the Spartans back in the lead in the 53rd minute. The Spartans Eve almost scored, but UNBC's Pierce made the save. Eve picked up the rebound and found fourth-year midfielder Jordan Low (Port Moody, B.C.) in front of the Timberwolves' net. Low sent the ball back to Janzen, who hit the back of the net for his first Canada West goal to put TWU up 2-1. The Timberwolves answered quickly. From inside the TWU penalty area, Tate shot the ball towards the Spartans' net, where it deflected off a TWU defender to give UNBC an own goal and tie the match at 2-2 in the 56th minute. Jordan got the Timberwolves their first lead of the game in the 69th minute. Jordan took a cross from Hagon Kim and one-timed it into the right side of the Spartans' net to put UNBC up 3-2. The Spartans had a few chances in the final minutes but were unable to create a quality opportunity to equalize.
