SPARTAN FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK I SARAH UDE

LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western first-year thrower Sarah Ude (Surrey, B.C.) is the Spartans Female Athlete of the Week after qualifying for the Cascade Conference Championship this past weekend at the Simon Fraser High Performance meet on Saturday afternoon at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby, B.C.
 
The human kinetics student, who is currently ranked seventh in the NAIA and the top first-year in the NAIA, had a hammer throw of 50.09 meters to finish third at the meet.
 
Ude and the Spartans will now head to Vancouver, B.C., on Saturday for the UBC Open at Rashpal Dhillon Track & Field Oval.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the NAIA in track and field, cross country, and as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 14 U SPORTS team championships and 33 Canada West team championships.
