SPARTAN FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK I CLAIRE NICHOL

LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western third-year decathlete Claire Nichol (Surrey, B.C.) is the Spartans Female Athlete of the Week after a second-place finish at the UBC Open this past weekend at the Rashpal Dhillon Track & Field Oval in Vancouver, B.C.
 
The human kinetics student finished second with a total of 4097 points, which is the fourth-best NAIA performance of the 2026 outdoor season.
 
Nichol and the Spartans will head to the USA for two meets on April 2 and April 4. On April 2, the Spartans will be at the ALTIS Spring Tune-Up in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and then on April 4, they will head to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the UNLV Rebel Elite meet.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the NAIA in track and field, cross country, and as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 14 U SPORTS team championships and 33 Canada West team championships.
