LANGLEY, British Columbia –Trinity Western second-year middle distance runner
Yemane Mulugeta (Surrey, B.C.) is the Spartans' Male Athlete of the Week after qualifying for the NAIA championship and winning the 5000m race at the UBC Open this past weekend at the Rashpal Dhillon Track & Field Oval in Vancouver, B.C.
The natural science student won the 5000-meter race with a time of 14:06.20, which automatically qualifies him for the NAIA championship by meeting the qualifying standard of 14:22.
Mulugeta and the Spartans will head to the USA for two meets on April 2 and April 4. On April 2, the Spartans will be at the ALTIS Spring Tune-Up in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and then on April 4, they will head to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the UNLV Rebel Elite meet.
