ASHLAND, Oregon – Trinity Western's
Claire Nichol finished second overall in the heptathlon to lead the Spartans at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships.
Nichol finished with 4,397 points in what marked the first-ever outdoor heptathlon completed by a Spartan athlete. After moving into second overall in the final event of Day 1, Nichol maintained her position throughout Day 2, highlighted by first-place finishes in both long jump (5.32m) and the 800m (2:23.99).
Teammate
Eileen Noordam finished sixth overall with 4,090 points, including a second-place finish in javelin with a throw of 34.51m.
On the men's side, Cole Neufeld finished 10th overall in the decathlon with 5,419 points. After sitting 14th after Day 1, Neufeld climbed the leaderboard on Friday, getting as high as ninth before finishing 10th. His Day 2 performance was highlighted by a third-place finish in pole vault with a vault of 3.60m.
