LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s Nicolas Martin Huerta (Santiago, Chile.) has been named Canada West Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Martin Huerta vaulted 4.92m to move himself alone atop the U SPORTS rankings.
The fourth-year business student had previously vaulted 4.90m, which had him tied for first in the rankings, but his performance last weekend gave him sole possession of the top spot in the national rankings.
Next up for the Spartans track and field teams will be the Canada West Championships at the Universiade Pavilion in Edmonton, Alta. on February 23-24. The U SPORTS championships will be held in Winnipeg on March 7-9.
Rempel and the Spartans will now be at home against the MacEwan Griffins. Game times on Friday and Saturday are set for 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
