LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western fourth-year forward Mansha Sidhu (Surrey, B.C.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after scoring the winner and assisting on the opener in Saturday’s 2-1 upset of the No. 7 Mount Royal Cougars in the Canada West quarter-finals in Calgary.

The business student sent fourth-year forward Luciana Andrews (Coquitlam, B.C.) in alone for the opening goal in the 14th minute. After Mount Royal equalized in the 89th, Sidhu lifted a free kick into the top left corner in added time to send the Spartans through to the semifinals. She finished with one goal and one assist on three shots, one on target, in 66 minutes.

The winner was Sidhu’s 25th career goal across regular-season and playoff competition, moving her into sole possession of eighth in TWU history. It was also her 12th career game-winner, tying Nikki Wright for fourth in program history.

The Spartans will face the UBC Thunderbirds in the Canada West semifinals on Thursday, November 5, at 4 p.m. (PT) at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver. The match can be seen live on Canada West TV.
