ESHENKO NAMED TWU’S 2019-20 MALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western men's volleyball fifth-year middle Pearce Eshenko (Banff, Alta.) is the male winner of the Spartans Scholar-Athlete Award for 2019-20.

Eshenko is joined by fourth-year women's track and field star Mowa Adeleye (Calgary) as TWU's Scholar-Athlete Award winners.

Eshenko, who will graduate with a degree in Human Kinetics, will finish his time at TWU as a five-time Academic All-Canadian (minimum 3.7 GPA) and capped his Spartans career by being the only middle to earn a season-ending conference all-star nod, as he was named a Canada West Second Team All-Star.

On the court this year, Eshenko led U SPORTS in blocks per set (1.42) while helping TWU win the Canada West championship for the fourth time in his five-year career.

Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award
The Scholar-Athlete Award honours the academic achievements of student-athletes, recognizing that their demanding athletic schedule makes it very challenging to also excel in their academic endeavors. Athletes nominated for the scholar-athlete award must be graduating and having a minimum GPA of 3.5. They must be students in good standing, demonstrate quality of character, and have completed a minimum of 3 years at Trinity Western.
