LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western setter
Anselm Rein will launch his professional career this fall in Germany's top league after officially signing with SVG Lüneburg.
Rein capped his TWU career in impressive fashion by helping lead TWU to both the Canada West and U SPORTS championships in his final act as a Spartan. The produce of Erfurt, Germany, who was named a U SPORTS All-Canadian in 2025-26, finished his time at TWU with the second most assists in Spartans history, collecting 2,821 career assists. He leaves TWU as a two-time U SPORTS champion (2023 and 2026) and a two-time Canada West champion (2022 and 2026).
Rein joins former Spartans Jackson Howe, who recently re-signed with SVG Lüneburg for the 2026-27 season as well as TWU alum turned SVG Lüneburg assistant coach Tyler Koslowsky.
Rein will become the 11th Spartan to play for SVG Lüneburg – a list that include
Nick Del Bianco, Jesse Elser, Pearce Eshenko, Steve Marshall, Blake Scheerhoorn, Jordan Schnitzer,
Adam Schriemer, Ryan Sclater, Howe and Koslowksy.
