WINDSOR, Ont. – Trinity Western long jumper
Sheleena Wiley finished seventh overall at the 2025 U SPORTS Championships with a season's best jump of 5.96m Friday at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
In women's shot put,
Alina Olson was eighth overall in shot put with a throw of 12.17m, while
Eileen Noordam was 11th at 11.70m.
On the men's side, fourth-year Oke Okumo earned the Spartans first medal of the championships, capturing a bronze medal in long jump with a mark of 7.29m
Okumo, who won silver at the Canada West Championships two weeks ago with a jump of 7.17m, won his first-ever U SPORTS medal, coming just one centimetre shy of his personal best of Spartan record 7.30m. Okumo earned his way onto the podium after a fourth-place finish at last year's national championships, when he jumped 7.08m.
The long jump bronze marks Spartans second-ever U SPORTS medal in men's long jump, as Okumo follows James Linde, who won silver in 2014.
Dajean Clarke's performance in the heptathlon saw the Canada West gold medallist collect 5,004 points for a sixth-place finish. Clarke's Day 2 was highlighted by clearing 4.43m in the pole vault section of the heptathlon. Clarke's 5,004 points saw him finish just four points short of his personal best and Spartan record 5,008 points, which he posted while winning the CW title.
In the men's 3000m, first-year Yemane Mulugeta finished sixth with a time of 8:23.88. Mulugeta was a double-medallist at the CW Championships, winning silver in the 3000m and bronze in the 1500m.
In the 300m, Danny Earles, who won CW gold this year, finished eighth overall. He clocked a time of 34.35 in the preliminaries, which was the fourth fastest going into the final. In the final, Earles ran 34.96.
