LANGLEY, B.C. – For the second year in a row, Trinity Western fourth-year men's hockey forward Jarrett Fontaine (Humboldt, Sask.) is the male winner of the Murray Hall Leadership Legacy Award, as the Spartans officially launch the unveiling of their 2019-20 Athletic Awards.
Fontaine is joined by women's soccer defender Kristen Sakaki (Burnaby, B.C.) as this year's male and female Murray Hall Leadership Legacy Award winners.
Fontaine is the ultimate role model within the Spartans men's hockey program. He is the team's faith leader and academic leader and he is heavily involved in volunteer opportunities throughout the Langley community. He is the Spartans captain and will help lead the men's hockey team's transition into the Canada West conference starting in 2020-21.
On the ice, Fontaine is a clutch player who was named the BCIHL's Playoff MVP in both 2017-18 and 2018-19 as he helped TWU capture back-to-back league championships. This year, he tallied eight goals and 12 assists in 19 games, while guiding TWU to a regular season leading 19-4-0-1 record.
