SPARTANS FALL 77-76 TO WINNIPEG IN OVERTIME

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western took a 77-76 overtime loss to the U SPORTS Championships runner-up Winnipeg on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre.

Nicole Fransson (Edmonton) and Jayden Gill (Abbotsford, B.C.) led the Spartans with 16 and 13 points respectively while first-year Sydney Bradshaw (Langley, B.C.) chipped in with nine points.

Winnipeg's Kyanna Giles led the Wesmen with 20 points.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans held a seven-point lead with three minutes remaining, but a Winnipeg 3-pointer would tie up the game, giving way to the Wesmen taking an eventual lead.

QUOTABLE
Cheryl Jean-Paul – TWU Head Coach
"Great battle but tough loss tonight. It was a great game to recognize how important every play will be for us this season. It's so good to have a game at this caliber a month before league starts so that we can continue to build on what we do well and close the gap on what Winnipeg will expose this weekend. Looking forward to an opportunity to level things tomorrow."

UP NEXT
TWU rematches Winnipeg at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday (6:00 p.m. PT).
