LANGLEY, British Columbia – Five Spartans have been named Canada West All-Stars after Trinity Western's 6-6-3 regular season and a fourth-place finish in the Pacific Division.
TWU's selections are headlined by fourth-year forward
Charles Nana (Calgary, Alta.) and fourth-year defender
Adam Hajdecki (Surrey, B.C.) both being recognized as first-team all-stars. Nana led the Spartans with seven goals, six assist, and was second in Canada West in points with 14 points, on 30 shots in 14 matches. Hajdecki played in 15 matches with one goal from the back-line. Playing 90 minutes in 14 of his matches for a Spartan defence that finished seventh in CW in goals against at 1.13 per game.
Alongside Nana and Hajdecki are third-year midfielder
Jordan Low (Port Moody, B.C.) and fourth-year midfielder
Thomas Powell (Coquitlam, B.C.) who were named to the Canada West second team. Low finished the season with five goals and one assists with 26 total shots, while playing 90 minutes in 11 matches. Powell played in 13 games and scored one goal, with four assists and 40 shots, while playing 90 minutes in 13 matches.
Finishing off the Spartan Canada West awards is first-year forward Emmanual Dan-Adokiene ( Calgary, Alta.) who was named to the CW all-rookie team. Dan-Adokiene played in seven games and scored two goals with six shots on goal with a total of 372 minutes.
The fourth-place Spartans start the post-season against the Alberta Golden Bears in the Canada West quarter-final in Edmonton, Alta. Match time is set for 2:15 p.m. (MT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV. The winner will play the winner of Mount Royal and Victoria in the Canada West semi-final on Sunday afternoon in Edmonton, Alta.
