SPARTANS COME BACK TO BEAT UBCO IN FOUR

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western got back in the win column Friday night, beating UBC Okanagan 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 29-27) in Blue Team Cup action at the Langley Events Centre.

Kaden Schmidt led the Spartans offensively with 18 kills.

The Spartans evened their Blue Team Cup record at 1-1 and their preseason record to 6-1.

QUOTABLE
Adam Schriemer, TWU Head Coach
"One of the goals of preseason is to get everyone on the court and give them opportunities. Willem (Van Huizen) and Chuck (Zack Yewchuk) did great. They've had some experience with Canada's U21 team over the summer, but it's always different playing on home court at the LEC. UBCO put pressure on us with how clean they played. There were moments were they were only missing two serves a set and only hitting two balls out of bounds per set, so we had to earn a lot. There were moments in games when we we had double the errors they had, which made life hard. I'm happy with our resilience, coming back from four and five-point deficits in the third and fourth sets, so I think that's something to be proud of coming out of tonight's game."

UP NEXT
The Spartans will play their final match of the Blue Team Cup Saturday against Mount Royal at 5 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre.
