LANGLEY, British Columbia– Trinity Western’s Jayden Gill (Abbotsford, B.C.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after averaging 23.5 points, and 1.5 blocks per game to lead the Spartans to two wins over the Mount Royal Cougars this past weekend at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
On Friday night the fourth-year had 19 points, three steals, and one blocked shot while shooting 42.1 percent (8/19) from the field to lead the Spartans to a 76-59 win over the Cougars.
On Saturday night the human kinetics student finished with an impressive 28 points, two blocks, and two rebounds while shooting 47.1 percent (8/17) to give the Spartans a 65-54 win and a weekend sweep of the Cougars.
Gill currently leads Canada West in scoring, averaging 18.2 points/game, and is fourth in blocks with 1.4 blocks per game.
The Spartans, who are 10-6, will host their final home conference games of the season against the UNBC Timberwolves this Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. Game times are set for 6 p.m. and 4 p.m. and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
